Internet Marketing Spammers
Owning a couple small online businesses is quite a challenge and sometimes it’s enough to drive me up the wall. If only I had a vice to fall back on!! I don’t drink, I don’t smoke and I DON”T do drugs or anything else illegal… The strongest substance that I’m addicted to is caffeine, don’t think I can ever kick that stuff.
Ok, so what’s gotten my knickers in a twist today? My blog is small, but I get 30+ spam comments on it per day that I have to delete one at a time so that I don’t miss a real comment by a real person. (My post about how I upgraded the CPU on my Acer laptop has over 260 real comments!) It doesn’t really take that long, but as the blog gets bigger I’m going to get more and more spam until eventually it’s nearly unmanageable.
Why do people do it? Because they think they will get a ‘followed’ link to their website that helps them with their SEO. Who are these people that know so little about Search Engine Optimization that they think this plan actually works? Who are the poor saps that PAY these people to post spam links to their websites?
The site that is currently spamming my blog is www_web-marketing-pros_com I can make the link clickable WITHOUT them getting any credit from Google for it, (just by adding rel=”nofollow” in the code) but I don’t actually want anyone to actually GO to their website without reading how bad it is first.
They are supposedly a search engine optimization business, and one of their services is buying links to your website: up to $350 for one link from a PageRank 7 website… Seriously? I sure hope people are not falling for this. You can get unlimited, followed links with your choice of keywords from sites like Hubpages, Squidoo, Ezinearticles, TRCB and more for free! Google doesn’t like paid links, they can ban your site from Google FOREVER, plus the site where you bought the link from and everybody else involved too.
Why would you ever do anything that might upset Google if you want to keep your website? Think about starting from nothing all over again with a new domain name and everything. Not a fun idea.
Anyways… just a rant. Not much I can do to educate the masses but I just feel like ranting about it anyway.
