Google Super Bowl Ad Does it All Just Right!

During the most watched television event in history (… the Super Bowl 02/07/10 in case you were wondering) had by far the most expensive commercials of any show on television that day or even the entire month.

Sundays Super Bowl broadcast had approximately 106.5 million viewers which beat out the previous record holder, the series finale of M*A*S*H in 1983 which had approximately 105.97 million viewers.

One ad during the Super Bowl did everything perfectly… though it likely cost them about $6 million for you to view it… and you probably didn’t even realize while watching it just how perfect the ad was or how they did it.

The magic of this ad didn’t happen on the screen. There were no amazing special effects, singing fish, dancing raisins, or cute little Zhu Zhu Pets scurrying about. In fact, there wasn’t even a single actor on screen, or any spoken words during the ad! How in the world did the best ad put it all together then?

The magic took place in YOUR mind. If the advertiser can get you to sell yourself on the product, that’s the best possible endorsement they could ever hope to receive. The ad used the tried and true three step formula of:

1- Feature, 2- Advantage, 3- Benefit

and it did so in such a way that your imagination was running wild and maybe even affected you

So what was the magic ad, and where can I see it? I thought you’d never ask!

*EDIT* Sorry for the broken link, you can see the Google ad below:

Technorati and Twitter

Ok, so I make my living on the internet by fixing digital cameras for people and I gotta tell ya I still don’t know how all these sites work that I’m supposed to be on etc. I do what I can to try and figure it out, so if you see dumb posts from me about online marketing and stuff like that I’m just trying to make sure people can find us if they can use our services.

Technorati is one site I’m trying to figure out now. I need to post this code: kqb6jxh5nu to claim this blog as my own. After that, I think I get links to my Technorati profile or something? I dunno, I’m just the guy you talk to on the phone when you call in with questions and signs the checks at the end of the week.

Hey, I never said all my blog posts would be interesting! =)

I’m Darntoothysam on Twitter too and I have a challenge for you: Type the words “digital camera” in a tweet and I bet I will reply to you! It will be a personal reply, not automated and you don’t have to use the words in that order or even beside each other.  Give it a shot and I will follow you and tweet you back fairly quickly. In fact if I’m at my desk I will tweet you back within a minute or so!

If I don’t respond to your tweet I’ll… I don’t know… stick a jalepeno in my nose? Sound good? LOL!
