Sony Releases PINK NEX-3 Camera

Sony has announced a pink color for its NEX-3 interchangeable lens camera that will only be available in the Japanese market… so don’t get too excited about it just yet unless you know somebody who can get their hands on one for you.

It joins the existing color choices of black, red and silver. The pink version will be available from November 2010 with a variety of optional pink accessories.

New Sony Pellicle A33 and A55 DSLR Cameras Leaked

If there is going to be any real breakthrough in digital camera technology, what is it going to be? The micro four thirds format is pretty amazing, just can’t wait for it to become more affordable. It looks like Sony is hoping that a faster DSLR will spur people to buy, buy, buy!

PhotoRumors.com has this information to offer, as well as some photos of upcoming Sony DSLR cameras, the A33 and A55. There’s nothing exciting about the photos, and how fast do you really need your DSLR to be anyway?

This is a continuation of the previously rumored specs for the upcoming Sony Alpha models. The A33 and A55 models are rumored to be a pellicle camera.

Sony α33:

* 14MP sensor
* ISO range of 100-12800
* 1080i video
* 15 AF points, some of them cross-point
* 7 fps
* dual memory slots (not sure what type)

Sony α55:

* 16MP sensor
* ISO range of 100-12800
* 1080i video
* 15 AF points, some of them cross-point
* 10 fps
* dual memory slots (not sure what type)

New Sony Alpha A290 and A390 Entry Level DSLRs

New Sony Alpha A290 and A390 Entry Level DSLRs

There’s a couple more digital SLR cameras now on the market vying for your dollars. Sony released the DSLR-A290 and DSLR-A390 cameras with the lower end of the spending spectrum in mind. The A390 is about $575, and the A290 $500, both with kit lens.

New Sony Alphas

The big difference between the two is the A390 has an articulating (moving) LCD screen and Live View, and the A290 does not. If you don’t use Live View with a DSLR, and don’t ever think “gee I wish my LCD was adjustable!” then save some money and get the A290. Personally, it’s worth it to get the A390 just for those occasions where you find yourself saying “DANG! I wish I had bought the other one instead”.

Here are the specs of the two cameras:

DSLR-A290 & DSLR-A390 Specs.

Sony Alpha NEX-5 Review

It looks as though the new wave of digital camera development we are going to see is going to be the Micro Four Thirds system. These cameras give DSLR-like quality images, have a MUCH smaller body size due in part to no mirror, and have interchangeable lenses. They look a little odd to me, with the body being the size of a pocket point and shoot and a big SLR-sized lens on the front, but from what I’ve seen they really get the job done!

Is this the new wave of ‘bridge’ cameras that everyone will start buying? I doubt it. I see this as a great development, but not going to be extremely popular with the average person. These cameras are VERY expensive, they cannot use SLR lenses, and with the small body size I think they will be less comfortable to handle.

Of course everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, and Sony has another camera in this category; the Alpha NEX-5.

See a review of the NEX-5 through the link above… if you don’t mind all the ads on the site it’s actually a decent review.
